Calculations are essential when influences of any kind on the part cannot be easily estimated. We distinguish between calculations of:
• strength
• rigidity and
• tolerance.
Basically, strength, stiffness and precision of a part should be at a maximum level, but also in this field also volume, weight and cost have to be considered by the designer.
